-African Soda: wood ash can be used as an additive while cooking (finally, I have an excuse to say "this relish tastes like ASH!")

-Solo/Drafting: the game of checkers, bush style. New rules I learned include being penalized for not taking a piece and that a king piece can move however it wants.

-All Zambians love arguing about food. While they do always eat the same stuff, they are quite sensitive as to what relish they might prefer or how that food is prepared and can go on for hours arguing about this.

-There is no love lost on pets around here. The three dogs nearest me are named Mistake, Stop, and Target.

-Zambians love tailgating you on bicycles. Whether it be road comraderie, curiosity, an inclination to annoy, or some mix of these--it is one of the common challenges that volunteers encounter. (For more insight on infringements of personal space, check out Brett's funny post on the subject).
